Do you have to wear a seatbelt in older cars in New York state?

i have a 1971 PLymouth Duster and seatbelts were an option back then. They were never installed in my car and im wondering if i could get a ticket for this. I know the law says something like "all cars 19__ and older are not required to wear seatbelts" anyone know the year?
